Hungry Horrors has a new biome. The Seashore is live, and it brings four new Horrors to feed, seven new dishes to cook, a new ingredient to build them around, and new faces to meet along the coast.
It is the biggest single addition to the game since Early Access began. Here is what is in it.
A new stretch of coast
The Seashore is a new biome, loosely inspired by the coastline around the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head. If you know that part of the English coast, the white cliffs and the grey sea, you will recognise the mood we were after.
It comes with its own Horrors, its own dishes, new characters, and new things to find as you explore.
Four new Horrors
Four new Horrors have surfaced along the coast, drawn from Welsh and Scottish folklore. Each has its own tastes and cravings to work out, and as always the challenge is reading what each one wants and cooking to match before it loses patience.
The Afanc is a creature of Welsh legend, a lake monster said to lurk in the rivers and pools of Wales and to thrash the waters when roused. The Ceffyl Dŵr is also Welsh, a water horse that rises from streams and waterfalls, beautiful and dangerous in equal measure. From Scottish folklore comes the Shellycoat, a shy water spirit named for the coat of shells it is said to wear, which rattle as it moves. And the Marool is a Shetland sea creature of Scottish tradition, a fearsome thing of the waves. Four coastlines, four very different appetites.
Seven new dishes, built on the sea
The Seashore brings a new ingredient and seven new dishes rooted in coastal British and Irish food: Angels on Horseback, Partan Bree, Potted Shrimp, Fisherman's Pie, Dressed Crab, Queenies, and Ormer Casserole. If you have settled into a comfortable deck, the new seafood gives you good reason to rethink it.
New faces on the coast
You will meet Ceridwen, the most powerful enchantress of Welsh myth, on the Seashore. You will also cross paths with Failinis, the lost hound of Lugh, drawn from Irish legend. We will leave the details of those meetings for you to discover.
Plus the usual fixes
The update also carries a batch of bug fixes and quality of life improvements, along with translation updates from our Discord community, who continue to be a huge help. If you ever spot something off in a translation, come and tell us on Discord.
Thank you for playing, and for all the feedback and bug reports that shaped this one. We hope you enjoy the Seashore.
You can play Hungry Horrors on Steam, where it is in Early Access.
Thanks for reading,
